Oh Brother

So I felt like a chat with my brother today, and couldn't get a hold of him, so I left him a message on IM. The last time we talked, he told me he couldn't come down to visit me here after all, which sucks. Most of our conversations tend to run along the lines of "Hey." Hey. "What's new?" Not much. You? "Exams, as usual. Tomorrow's paper is on Quantum Particle Jimmy Neutron Einstein Physics." (Well, that's what it sounds like to me.) Ouchers. "Yeah." Well, good luck. "Thanks." Get some sleep. "I will." It's late. "I know." You should be asleep, what is it, 3am there? "Or thereabouts." You should sleep. You sound sleepy. "Well, I was asleep when you called." Oh.

Conversations with my sister, on the other hand: "Hey!!!!" Hey you. "You won't believe what happened today! I had my biology paper, right? So after we got done,..." How'd it go? "...eh? It went okay. So after we got done, right, we decided to toss the ball around a bit, and so we headed down to the football field, and right then, you won't believe this..." So I know the names of her football coach, team-mates, classmates, best friends, erstwhile best friends, upperclassmen, lowerclassmen, homeroom teacher, math teacher, science teacher, science teacher's wife, science teacher's child, art teacher, art teacher's golden retriever.

Siblings. You think that manga/anime portrayals of family are a tad unrealistic, but you'd be surprised.
